Impressions from the First Preseason Game
The Miami Dolphins kicked off the 2015 campaign in Chicago versus the Bears. And yes they lost badly . The final score was 27-10 which at face value looks like a horrible night and for the second and third team it was. But still we feel good. Why? One word...hope. Even though the backups looked like backups and turned the ball over four times and gave up 27 points, the starting unit looked good. It is hard to tell how good because they only played a series or two. What we saw was talent and we saw character. The starting offense overcame two holding penalties and put together a long time consuming TD (not a FG) scoring drive. They mixed the run and the pass, Tannehill looked solid and Lamar Mill played well. More impressive was the starting defense that was smothering. Dominant line play and tight coverage gave the Dolphins fans hope that this team might actually be as advertised, a playoff contender that rides a stout defense and an efficient balanced offense back to relevance.
